Mental Health Certificate
Introducing our YogaX Mental Health Certificate program, an initiative dedicated to equipping healthcare providers and yoga teachers with yoga-based strategies designed to enhance emotional wellbeing and foster mental resilience among individuals facing health-related challenges.
The Yoga for Mental Health module delves into the nuanced art of tailoring yoga strategies to optimize one's capacity in navigating a spectrum of challenges. This exploration extends to understanding both contextual and personal factors contributing to emotional unease and mental distress.
The program employs an integrated holistic approach, incorporating movement, breathwork, mindfulness, meditation, and guided imagery. These techniques are thoughtfully adapted to address specific emotional needs, enabling the creation of highly personalized self-care or wellbeing plans. The goal is to nurture emotional resilience and cognitive flexibility.
This 75-hour advanced training encompasses a blend of didactics, interactive discussions, practical exercises, and personal self-exploration. It provides a profound exploration of integrated yoga practices tailored for mental and emotional well-being.
Our certificate program caters to two main audiences with skillsets and interests from both areas:
Yoga Teachers: Offering a unique opportunity for yoga instructors to integrate services to support students’ mental health.
Mental Healthcare Providers: Providing mental health professionals with a foundational understanding of basic yoga techniques that can be seamlessly integrated into their scope of practice, expanding their toolkit for integrated holistic patient care.

Prerequisites:
The certificate program is available to individuals who meet at least one criterion in each of the two of the following categories:
Category 1:
Registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance OR
An individual currently enrolled in a YogaX teacher training program with completion of the 200-hour training as a prerequisite for starting the synchronous modules in the certificate program OR
An individual who has been trained as a yoga teacher (not eligible for YA registration) and has an active personal yoga practice (to be reviewed and approved by a YogaX staff member for equivalency with item 1 above) OR
A currently practicing healthcare professional (lacking yoga teacher credentials) who is willing to complete the YogaX Integrated holistic yoga psychology bridge module BEFORE officially being able to complete the classes in the certificate - email us for details
Category 2:
Currently practicing healthcare professional OR
Student in a formal academic healthcare program (students to be reviewed and approved by a YogaX staff member) OR
Yoga teacher with interest in bringing therapeutic yoga into mental health or healthcare with a clearly articulated mission and population of interest
Program Structure:
Students must complete 15 hours of self-paced material (provided free of charge and prerequisite for required modules) and two 30-hour modules from the list below, for a total of 75 hours of training. Sample syllabi can be found on the Modules page.
Must complete one of the following required modules:
Integrated Holistic Yoga for Mental Health: Cultivating Emotional Resilience and Fortitude
Integrated Holistic Yoga Therapy Principles, Case Conceptualization, and Practices
Must complete one additional selective module, chosen from the list of options below:
Interior Practices of Yoga: Moving into Awareness, Compassion, and Insight
Therapeutic Breathwork: Pranayama for Integrated Holistic Healthcare
Trauma-Informed Yoga: Conceptualization and Application
