The large majority of our offerings take place online via synchronous (i.e., live) classes. As a student, this means that you would have a scheduled class time that you would attend via Zoom, alongside your live instructor and the rest of your class.
At the moment, our training programs consist of the following:
The 200hr training and Certificate programs (i.e., Mental Health, Trauma-Informed Yoga, and Health Coaching) are entirely online.
The 300-hour programs include two optional in-person modules which take place at Stanford over the course of a 5-6 day immersion. While it is recommended that 300-hour students attend this immersion during the course of their training, it is not required for successful completion of the program.
The 800-hour Yoga Therapy program includes two required in-person modules which take place at Stanford over the course of a 5-6 day immersion. This immersion must be attended at some point during the course of the 800-hour training. It is offered annually, typically in the late summer or early fall.

Classes are typically scheduled for full days on the weekends (e.g., 9am-5pm Pacific on Saturdays or Sunday). Some classes will take place on weekday evenings (e.g., 4pm-7pm Pacific).
Upcoming course dates and times are available on the Module Schedule page (scroll to the “YogaX 30-hour Module Schedule” section). Course schedules are typically announced at least 5-6 months in advance, but the dates and times are subject to change depending on other scheduling needs. The Module Schedule page will be updated with upcoming dates and times as soon as that information is available - If upcoming dates are not yet posted, it means that they have not yet been announced.
You can also view a day-by-day YogaX schedule on our Program Calendar.

Our 300-hour IAYT program requires that applicants have an active, licensed healthcare practice governed by a state or national board, or be enrolled in a graduate program leading to some kind of licensure for practice in healthcare or community health settings and in the application/practicum phase. In addition, they are required to have a 200-hour YTT or equivalent yoga training experience.
Our 300-hour YTT program is the same curriculum without the qualified healthcare provider practicum elements. You need to have a 200-hour YTT in order to apply for a 300-hour YTT. This pathway is registered with Yoga Alliance, versus IAYT, but the content of the program is the same.
If you are unsure as to whether you would qualify for the IAYT program, we recommend submitting an application, in which you will be asked to describe your healthcare background and provide more context for how you hope to incorporate the training into your work. This fuller picture will help our program leaders to determine whether you would be eligible for the IAYT pathway. If you are not eligible for the IAYT, you could decide to pursue the 300-hour YTT or you could withdraw your application.

Our 300hr, 800hr, Mental Health Certificate, and Trauma-Informed Yoga Certificate all have rolling admissions policies. You can apply at any time and should hear back from us within 1-2 weeks of your application.
Our 200hr training and Health Coaching Certificate are cohort-based programs. We typically review applications and send out initial acceptance letters beginning 2-3 months before the cohort start date. If a cohort fills up before your application is received, your application will automatically be carried over to the next cohort.
PROGRAM INFORMATION
-
Yes! You do not need to be a healthcare professional to participate in the majority of our programs - the one exception is the 300-hour IAYT program. Before applying, we encourage you to think about how you would like to apply this training in your community. Is there a specific population that you would like to serve? Is there a need in any of your communities for integrated holistic yoga? These are important questions to consider before applying, because our programs are not designed or recommended for those who are only interested in deepening their own yoga practice.
-
All of our trainings/classes are open to all. You do not have to be affiliated with Stanford in order to enroll.
-
Yes. We accept international students, however, please keep the following considerations in mind:
The large majority of our classes occur synchronously, which means that you will be expected to attend via Zoom during the assigned class hours. Classes typically occur on Saturday and Sunday mornings/early afternoons California time, which means that they may occur at very odd or inconvenient hours for some international applicants.
All of our courses are taught in English and require an advanced understanding of the English language. Unfortunately we are not able to offer translation services at this time.
