This workshop for yoga teachers and healthcare professionals will discuss the latest scientific understanding of chronic pain, provide a yogic conceptualization of chronic pain, and explore yogic techniques to reduce pain, foster a healthy nervous system, and enhance wellness and resilience. Participants will learn scientific underpinning of chronic pain and evidence-based yogic practices that can decrease pain sensitivity.
TRAUMA-INFORMED YOGA FOR TEACHERS AND PROFESSIONALS
Yoga teachers and healthcare professionals learn the principles of trauma-informed yoga (TIY). TIY is compassionate and science-informed yoga adapted to support the unique needs of individuals who seek to overcome manifestations of trauma in body, emotion, mind, and relationship. Learn about holistic self-care and how to create a sense of belonging in your community on campus through the practice of holistic, integrated yoga. Learn how to use self-compassion and a variety of yoga strategies during your transition into and through college, graduate school, medical school, and other academic adventures.
Learn how to use yoga psychology to better understand your yoga students or mental health clients and to use yoga-and mindfulness-based strategies to support their resilience, mental health, and emotional well-being.
